Karoliina Paappa (b. 1983) is an artist based in Tampere, Finland. She graduated from Tampere University of Applied Sciences, Department of Fine Art (2012). She has also done photography studies in the Ontario College of Art and Design, Canada. Her works have been exhibited e.g., in South Korea, Poland, Estonia, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Italy and Greece.
Paappa works mainly with photographic art and installation art. She is interested to observe issues of individuals and wider issues of society and culture. Currently she is focused on creating images inspired by performance as a healing act and by giving a voice to a voiceless through sharing stories. Some of her recent projects attempt to evoke experience of compassion and understanding, as well as to dismantle the unequal structures and instrumentalization of other species.
